Eltham Railway Station

Eltham Railway Station was constructed on a live working train station platform as part of the Hurstbridge Line Upgrade Project. The project used prefab construction and design to visually align with the pre-existing station facilities. The building was installed in just one day during a previously scheduled shutdown of the train tracks on both sides of the platform.

The quick construction time meant that the platform and trains could continue operating with minimal disturbance. The building was designed by Grimshaw Architects with Abi-Group as the head contractor. The building functions as a train drivers’ amenities area, including male and female toilets, changing rooms, a manager’s office and meals area.
